Club Deportivo Guadalajara S.A. de C.V., commonly known as Las Chivas (The Goats), is a Mexican association football team based in Guadalajara, Jalisco that competes in the Primera División de México, the highest football division in Mexico.
Chivas is the only soccer club in Mexico to exclusively field Mexican-born players. The three colors of the team red, white and blue stand for Fraternity, Union and Sports. It is one of three teams in Mexico that have never been relegated to the Primera Division A (2nd Division), the others being América, and Cruz Azul. These are also the three most popular clubs in Mexico, and the meetings of América and Chivas signal the national derby (el Superclásico). The team’s popularity in the U.S. has led to the creation of a Major League Soccer expansion club in the United States, Chivas USA, which was initially to be comprised of Mexican and Mexican-American players but now features a roster similar to other MLS clubs. Guadalajara has won more championships than any other team in Mexico.
Sport Club Internacional, also known as Inter or Colorado, is a Brazilian football team from Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, founded on April 4, 1909. They play in red shirts, white shorts and socks, the first of which gives the team its nickname of O Colorado, or The Reds. They enjoy a traditional rivalry with the city’s other club, Grêmio – with derbies known as a “Gre-Nal”
The team’s home stadium is known as the “Giant from the River Bank”, or Beira-Rio, on the banks of the Guaíba River, and it holds 56,000, it’s actually the biggest football stadium at Southern Brazil.
The club’s most successful season was in 2006, when Internacional won the FIFA Club World Cup 2006, beating FC Barcelona, in Yokohama, Japan.
